Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, my name is Timothy Durham, and I am very excited to be teaching Geometry and a College-Prep Math at Industrial High School this year. I grew up in Victoria, Texas and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 2003. I played drums in my high school marching band and may have even played on the field here in Vanderbilt during that time!
After high school, I went to Texas Tech University-- "Get Your Guns Up!" I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. After graduation, I pursued different ministry opportunities for several years. I spent a year doing college ministry at Tech and then 2 years with a worship ministry in Kansas City, Missouri. I also got to serve people overseas in Egypt for 3 years, and it was during this time that I became inspired to use my degree to help youth grow and succeed in their education. So, over the past two-and-a-half years, I have dedicated my time to substitute teaching and tutoring at the high school and college level, working with students of all different ages. One of my favorite things is seeing students have that moment where the light bulb comes on, and then they begin to realize that math is not as hard as they thought. I am really looking forward to working with the students at Industrial High School and seeing them excel and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
