    * The cause of the American revolution

    * The opposing sides in the American Revolution

    * The significant battles of the American Revolution and the strategies of both sides

    * What helped the Patriots win Independence

    * How the Americans gained allies in the war

    * We will start off the new chapter with a documentary on the Revolutionary War

    Lesson 1: The War for Independence
     
    Mode of Instruction/Activities: 

    * Visual Skills: Pairs analyze an image of the Battle of Bunker Hill

    *Reading Skills: Students summarize the views of people before the war.

                            Students discuss the capture of Philadelphia and the results of the plan to capture Albany

    *Writing Skills: Pairs work together to decide which battle they think was most important, and then writing a paragraph explaining their reasoning.
