My name is Valerie Smith,
I graduated high school from Burnet Texas and went on to graduated college from Texas A&M Corpus Christi (GOOOOO Islanders!!!!) with a bachelors in Kinesiology and a bachelors in Speech Communications. I first started coaching children while I was in college and from that point on, I knew what my calling was. Having the opportunity to give a child the feeling of accomplishment, pride, and confidence was enough to know that teaching and coaching is where I needed to be. I have been teaching and coaching a total of 13 years now and it has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made.
In college, I continued to participate successfully in sports. I played club volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball and yes....even football (flag of course) My teams even went on to play in the regional tournament in Dallas and my softball team earned a spot to play in Monroe Louisiana where we placed 3rd in nationals. Sports have always played a big roll in my life and has given me the experience and knowledge needed to pass on to our younger generations.
