• Education

My family moved to Yoakum, Texas from Bastrop when I was six years old. I graduated with honors from Yoakum High School and then attended Victoria College for 1 1/2 years. From there, I transferred to Texas A&I University and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I taught at Travis Middle School in Port Lavaca for two years, in a private church school for two years, and have now been teaching at Industrial ISD for 22 years.

    Family

My husband, Tommy, and I have been married for almost eleven years. We have a blended family of seven children and twelve grandchildren. This past summer I was privileged to play with grandchildren a lot.  My husband, Tommy, and I have been blessed to experience the beauty of Bar Harbor, Maine, Acadia National Park, and New Brunswick, Canada; specifically Prince Edward Island. I love the writings of L.M. Montgomery and have wanted to visit Prince Edward Island since reading the Anne of Green Gables book about 25 years ago. The Island did not disappoint! We have also traveled to Europe to the countries of Slovenia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. We considered that the trip of a lifetime. During the summer of 2017 we were privileged to place our tourist caps on in Ireland and Scotland; beautiful people and scenery! This year we traveled to the Smokies and took in parts of Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina. "The Mountains are calling my name and I must go!" John Muir Prior to marrying Tommy I had traveled to a couple of African countries, The Netherlands, Israel, Jordan, and Mexico. Now I get to indulge my love of travel and share my artifacts in a Social Studies classroom. I am so excited!

    Passions

Other than spending time with my family, I love to read, crochet, sew, make jewelry, travel and do all types of crafts. Helping underprivileged children is very important to my husband and me, and I have participated in a number of mission trips in the past. Now our mission vision is cast closer to home.
